Samyang releases firmware for Sony FE AF lenses

Samyang is continuing their serious play on the field of AF lenses for Sony FE and released firmware updates for all 4 models this week.

The update is providing the following improvements

AF 14mm F2.8 FE Ver.20

  • Fixed the phase detection range of AF-C on α9, α7RⅡ, α6300
  • Improved autofocus performance in low light
  • Fixed shutter delay problem after focus confirmation when strobe was installed
  • Improved autofocus performance on video mode (Capable with α9, α7RⅢ).
  • Improved autofocus performance in video mode.

AF 35mm F1.4 FE Ver.02

  • Improved autofocus performance in low light
  • Improved AF-C tracking speed

AF 35mm F2.8 FE Ver.03

  • Improved autofocus performance in low light
  •  Improved AF searching in low light on α6300.

AF 50mm F1.4 FE Ver.31

  • Improved autofocus performance in low light
  • Fixed shutter delay problem after focus confirmation when strobe was installed
  • Automatically switch to manual focus in video mode on α5000, NEX-F3, NEX-C3, NEX-7, NEX-5, NEX-5N, and NEX-3N.

To update the firmware it is necessary to use the Samyang Lens Station (similar to Sigma Global Vision lenses).

Initial testing definitely cofirms the improved AF performance in low light – so the investment in the Lens station is well worth it! WTG Samyang!
